Completed in four Phases, the Phase I Sanctuary (pictured)
of 20,800 S.F. was completed in 1984, welcoming a growing
congregation to worship. Project Architect Daryl Hawkins has
been instrumental in developing this church, with the Phase II
Entry coming along in 1989 and Phase III Classrooms in 1992.
The Phase IV Gym and Family Life Center (1995) have helped
this growing congregation to expand and serve its families and
community while becoming a landmark of the Central
Coast.
Cypress Community Church won a Citation Award from the
American Institute of Architects, Monterey Bay Chapter in
1988.
Just
recently JHW was retained by Cypress Community Church to
work on the design of a proposed new Church Cemetery and
Memory Garden shown on the left side in the rendered photo.
This is the fifth phase of a 30 year professional relationship
with Cypress Community Church that began even before the
design for the original sanctuary building in 1981. Bellinger
Foster Steinmetz, Landscape Architects, worked with Daryl
on creating a low impact design which will be largely perceived
as landscaping between the low crypt buildings, rather than
a structure. |
