The Monterey Hyatt Regency Conference Facility Building was part of a total project which included an addition of 206 sleeping rooms as well as expansion and upgrading of restaurants and reception areas. Working closely with Hyatt's Corporate Team, Project Architect Ken Walker integrated the new facilities with the existing hotel to produce a functional, handsome destination resort hotel.
The Conference Facility contains a 12,000 S.F. Ballroom, 4,500 S.F. of Pre-Function space, 9,000 S.F. of Multipurpose and Meeting Room space and a 1,500 S.F. Executive Room which looks out onto a common area of grand proportions. Backing up this public area is a full service kitchen, administrative offices and laundry for the entire hotel.
The Hyatt Regency Conference Center won a Citation Award from the American Institute of Architects, Monterey Bay Chapter in 1983.
