Located in historic Scholze Park, the Monterey Community
Center is an ideal site and facility for serving senior citizens
and
the disabled. It is immediately adjacent to major streets
and public transportation, but the park setting is screened and
quiet.
The importance of capturing this idyllic setting was emphasized
by JHW Architects when they were retained by the City of Monterey
to remodel and expand the Senior Center. A remodel of the
existing building added an additional meeting room, storage space,
restrooms
that meet ADA standards, a central kitchen and new Director's
office. Included in the remodel was the existing Alliance on Aging
services facility, bringing the new facility to 9,437 S.F. |
